Laertius lived between 200 and 500 AD (probably around 225 AD). Although the text indicates that Laertius was clearly sympathetic to Epicureanism, there is no definite proof that Laertius was an Epicurean himself. This work is also the source for our knowledge of Epicurus’ three main letters, his "Wise Man" sayings, and his Principal Doctrines.
